Your Own Private Island on Stoney Lake
This week, as I was navigating out of Young’s Bay on Beautiful Stony Lake, with the boat headed East, I was yet again, taken back by the beauty of the Kawartha Lakes – the exposed granite shorelines with towering pines transported me deep within a Group of Seven Painting. As I passed a mix of spectacular modern cottages and historic island properties, I was reminded just how wonderful this area of the Kawartha’s really is. The water was flat, the sun high in the sky as we passed cottagers enjoying the beauty of the moment – lounging on docks, towing kids in tubes, touring on pontoons or fishing a deep shoal. These lazy days of August provided the perfect opportunity for creating lasting memories with family and friends.
Towering Pines and Exposed Granite
As I headed East towards Pine Island, the destination appeared – Island 106. WOW – I were greeted with a magnificent western frontage of exposed granite, back dropped by the wood-sided cottage and huge deck – it oozed of charm and character. I rounded the point to the North, hugging close to the shoreline, and turned into a beautiful private cove and dock, being greeted by a waterside bunkie! This private cove included a sturdy pier wall alongside the dock, so sheltered and perfect for docking. I’ve owned a lot of different boats over the years, and these sheltered coves are so perfect for protecting hulls from the wind and waves!
Water Access Cottages – Unmatched Privacy and Charm
Now while water access may not be for everyone, for me, it’s a very special cottaging experience. I grew up with a water access cottage and understand the unique appeal. While it adds some effort, it’s not what many think and the benefits can be huge when it comes to privacy – especially if you have a dog! we didn’t have pontoon boats when I grew up at a water access cottage – today’s modern crafts have made it fun and charming. Park the car and park the worries with it – travel away from the busy lifestyles and feel the stress release as your dock comes into sight…
Stepping Back in time – Cottaging Stoney Lake Style
The minute you step foot on this island, you instantly realize this is something really special. Held by the same family for almost 50 years, Island 106 os approx. 1.5 acres and 1400′ of rugged, gorgeous shoreline. I solid path leads past the bunkie to the cottage, which is on the Western tip of the island. The cottage itself is a 2 bedroom, open-concept dining/living/kitchen design with a sunroom and a huge wooden deck. It includes a 4pc bathroom with septic, and their is a 100 amp service and phone line on the island. Quaint, simple and ready for a new family and the memories they will create. Its a seasonal building with incredible views and ideally situated for development with a footprint that is absolutely perfect! And the views…WOW. I can’t think of anywhere on Stoney that has this length of Westerly view down the middle of the Lake – it’s what everyone dreams of!
The Perfect Guest Bunkie
A separate , good sized bunkie is perched at the waters edge – what a great guest house of place for the teens to hang out. The island itself has trails that were once maintained but now are still visible with the hand painted, fading signs. Frontage includes deeper water to the West as well as shallower shoals to the South – a perfect blend for young and old alike.
Island 106 is truly a remarkable property and only a short boat ride from Crowes Landing where the current owners parked and docked. It comes pretty much as shown including furniture, paddle boat, kayak and even the fishing rods and life jackets Truly turn-key!
Don’t miss an incredible opportunity that are rare and few between – in fact, almost 50 years for this property. It’s listed at $799,900.
