Lakefield, Ontario, is a beautiful village nestled in the Kawartha Lakes. Less than a two-hour drive from Toronto and only ten minutes from Peterborough, this historic small town features many charming homes and churches dating back to the 1800s. It’s also home to Lakefield College private school, made famous by one of its former students, Prince Andrew.

Local businesses and quaint shops line the village main street, and you can find many lovely waterfront parks and restaurants to enjoy. Wander the boardwalk along the Otonabee River, enjoy hiking or biking along miles of trails, or enjoy shopping, spas, golf, museums, galleries and more.

Right on the border of cottage country, visitors to Lakefield can enjoy the scenic Otonabee River as it meanders through the town. It’s the perfect destination for a cottager outing as it includes a well-stocked Foodland grocery store, LCBO, Beer Store, RBC Bank, Home Hardware and TimberMart, and many eclectic shops and dining options. It also includes several franchise food outlets, including Tim Hortons, PizzaHut, Subway and McDonalds. There is a leading Medical Centre in the area, as well as several dentists and a Pharmacy. During the summer months, there is an outdoor Farmers Market and many events and festivals.

Situated in the Trent Canal Waterway system, Lakefield allows you to explore the Kawarthas by boat. It is an excellent place for winter sports lovers too. Lakefield is the home of Ontario Speed Skating Oval, a community Arena and nearby snowmobiling trails.
