Kasshabog Lake, or “Kosh Lake,” as it’s affectionally referred to, is a landlocked lake located approx 45 minutes from Peterborough and within a 2-hour drive to the GTA. It’s been termed “the best-kept cottage secret” as it’s a beautiful lake situated within the Canadian Shield. Hundreds of small islands, granite cliffs and picturesque bays make Kosh Lake a remarkable cottage environment. The lake includes several marina’s for parking and docking, (Stoney Point Marina, Kosh Lake Marina,) as well as options for restaurants and cottage rentals at Blue Mountain Lodge. The west end of the lake is accessed from Peterborough County Rd 6 and is only a few miles from Stoney Lake, whereas cottagers on the East side of the lake drive North from Havelock.

The lake is spring-fed, making it a swimmers paradise with it’s clear, clean water. It’s also home to some excellent fishing – but shhh – that’s a secret. There are several boat launches as well as a sandy beach that is home to the lake’s annual Regatta and a lake community library.

Kosh Lake offers cottagers the perfect mix of a larger lake boating experience while maintaining the community feel of a land-locked lake. It’s approx. Seven miles tip to tip but includes hundreds of miles of shorelines. Many water access cottages offer first-time buyers some savings. Kasshabog Lake has only recently begun to see more extensive cottage construction – there remain many original cottages from the 1950s when Kosh Lake first became popular. Dollar for dollar, Kasshabog Lake may offer some of the best cottage buying value in the Kawartha’s!
